This
is an essential activity for the company, based
on the processing of increasingly numerous and precise data from
the commercial environment as well as production figures.
Several levels are studied :
|Short-term : this involves forecasting the production
plan, based on commercial forecasts, which is done in year n for
sales at the end of n + 1 and start of n + 2. In addition, the
supply/demand balance for each year is permanently monitored;
|
Medium-term : up to 5 years, evolutions by market, and
within each market by variety, area assessed;
| Long-term
= Economic forecasting : this involves looking for meaningful
indicators to be able to predict varietal responses to market
evolutions.
Each
of these activities requires permanent monitoring which is reflected
in the methodical updating of data thereby ensuring the increasing
reliability of databases used for forecasting
